Have you seen companies offering a cheap coupon to clean your air duct system? Well, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Companies try to scare people into thinking that they need a whole system cleaning, leading them to believe that they have a serious health-threatening mold problem.
These cleanings are intense and expensive. In order to reach inside the air ducts and really clean all parts of the air duct system, it requires hours of hard work, knowledgeable technicians and advanced equipment.
Beware of these duct cleaning scams. Recently, one of our customers was told that her evaporator coil was full of mold, and that her ducts and coil would need to be cleaned.
Typical of high-pressure sales tactics, the salesman offered to take 50% off the coil cleaning if she agreed immediately to have the work performed. She called us instead and scheduled an appointment for a second opinion.
Not only was there no mold on the coil, it was pristine, like new; shining like the top of the Chrysler Building (see photo below). Luckily, this lady avoided the mold scare scam by reaching out to someone she trusts.
If you have been approached by one of these companies or are worried that you may have mold in your system, please reach out to us. We have been serving the Northshore and the Southshore since 2002 and do not want anyone in our community being taken advantage of or be a victim of this senseless scam.
