What is a Mini-Split Heat Pump?
A ductless mini-split is a heating and cooling device that affects just one room, which is why they’re so perfect for hobby rooms.
Mini-split heat pumps are ductless systems that are good for add-ons to houses, freestanding rooms and garages when you need to control the temperature of that one specific space.
Just like your standard air-source heat pump, mini-split heat pumps have an outdoor compressor/condenser as well as an indoor air-handling unit. Mini-split heat pumps work by in the following way:
- When you’re cold and you want it to be warmer in your hobby room, mini-split heat pumps take the warmth out of the air that’s outside and push it inside, thus heating up the interior air.
- When you’re hot and sweaty and you want to cool off, the system reverses, pushing the hot air in your space outside to keep you calm, cool and collected.
